Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £12.71 - £14.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week (flexible start and finish times)
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Garment Technologist / Sample Machinist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, a passion for garment construction, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced fashion environment.
Key Responsibilities- Sew first-fit garments and produce high-quality samples.
- Create detailed garment specifications.
- Measure and assess samples, ensuring accuracy before fittings.
- Check garment fit and construction, identifying improvements where necessary.
- Ensure sealed samples are accurate and production-ready.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive make-up sheets for production.
- Continuously identify ways to improve garment construction and production efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure deadlines are met.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and finishing techniques.
- Experience using lockstitch, overlock, and binding machines.
- Ability to work confidently with a variety of fabrics, including stretch materials and delicate fabrics such as silk.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the high-street fashion industry.
- Experience creating garment specifications and production documentation.
- Good understanding of the garment production process from development through to manufacture.
