Position Title: Senior Homelessness Project Worker

Location:
Hinckley

Hours of duty:
37 hours rota basis Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am-4pm

Salary: £14.64 per hour / £ 28,244. 82 per annum

About us:

Falcon Support Services provides supported accommodation and community projects to those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or vulnerable in the community.

Our service helps vulnerable people by providing safe and secure accommodation with our staff working alongside clients to help them develop their skills, so they can move away from homelessness to living independently and positively contribute to their community.

Role

Purpose:

This role works alongside residents who are living in semi-independence to offer support for an independent and positive future.

The role is challenging and rewarding with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop within Falcon Support Services. In this varied role, you will

  • Provide high quality accommodation, housing management and support to homeless people.
  • Empower clients to make positive changes and informed choices in moving towards independent living.
  • Assess each individual, support needs and work with them on a mutually agreed support plan/programme to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies to maximise service delivery

You must have a genuine interest in helping people to make changes in their lives and an understanding of the types of issues that affect those that are homeless, as well as a dedication to Falcon Support Services values and performance standards.

Please note this role will involve lone working.

Falcon Support Services are equipped to train and support people who do not have relevant skills and experience but do have the right values, behaviours, and attitudes.

Main Responsibilities

Leadership/General
  • To take a lead responsibility for daily operations for specific projects to ensure efficient service delivery as directed by the Project Manager. Tasks include but not limited to;
  • Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the project, ensuring high-quality, efficient service delivery and contributing to the smooth running of the service.
  • Provide leadership and support to colleagues through regular supervision, team meetings, case conferences, reflective practice, and mentoring of students and volunteers.
  • Manage referrals, admissions, occupancy levels, and voids by conducting initial interviews and completing accurate needs and risk assessments.
  • Manage a caseload of clients, developing, implementing, and reviewing personalised support plans that promote independence, positive outcomes, and successful move-on into independent living.
  • Support individuals to access and sustain accommodation, including assisting with setting up a new home, maintaining tenancies, and reducing abandonments and evictions.
  • Empower clients to engage in education, training, employment, volunteering, and other opportunities that improve wellbeing and independence.
  • Provide advice and practical support with homelessness applications, housing options, tenancy matters, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Universal Credit, and other welfare benefits.
  • Work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector agencies, housing providers, support services, funders, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, colleagues, partner organisations, and members of the public, promoting a positive image of Falcon Support Services, including representing the organisation at forums and professional events.
  • Work in accordance with Falcon Support Services' Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) Framework, applying psychologically informed and trauma-aware approaches to support delivery.
  • Monitor rent arrears, personal charges, service charges, licence or tenancy agreements, and ensure accurate service monitoring records are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate client records, support documentation, risk assessments, and case notes, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and quality standards.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of clients by identifying and reporting concerns, maintaining awareness of risks, and responding appropriately to emergencies and safeguarding issues.
  • Carry out routine building inspections, monitor access to the premises, report maintenance issues, and undertake practical duties required to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and working practices that support high-quality service delivery.
  • Attend mandatory training, meetings, and continuing professional development activities to maintain knowledge, skills, and best practice.
Administration
  • Ensuring adequate staffing of accommodation projects, with rota management, and participation in the on-call rota.
