Barnardo's is seeking a committed and compassionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our new Contextual Safeguarding Home, Hopes Place, in Hinckley. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative service supporting some of Leicestershire's most vulnerable children and young people.

About the Service

As the UK's largest children's charity, Barnardo's is working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council to develop and deliver a range of residential homes across the county.

Hopes Place our beautiful new home in Hinckley support children & young people between 8-18 years facing risks around exploitation, by identifying and responding to harm and abuse posed to them outside of their home environment and understanding the importance of intervention. The service provide up to 3 service users at any one-time opportunities to enjoy different experiences, establish friendships and develop confidence, independence and social/emotional skills..

Some of the responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Build trusted, nurturing relationships that promote children's wellbeing, independence, and strengths.
  • Lead, guide, and support Residential Support Workers in their daily duties.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the home, including household tasks such as cooking and maintaining a welcoming environment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of information and reports.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
  • Promote a safe, caring, and supportive environment for children and colleagues.
  • Act as a positive role model, helping young people develop valuable life and social skills.

Essential requirements to evidence in your written application:

  • A valid UK driving licence.
  • A Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare, or willingness to complete the qualification within the required timeframe.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • At least one year's experience in a supervisory or shift-leading role within a residential care setting.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
