Overview
Communications Officer (CO) Trainee, full‑time within the Liberty County Board of Commissioners 911 Public Safety Communications department.
Responsibilities- Receive emergency and non‑emergency calls and prioritize dispatch.
- Accurately track personnel in CAD system during 12‑hour shifts.
- Provide CPR and pre‑arrival medical instructions to callers.
- Remain on extended calls to assist callers and responding units.
- Coordinate mutual aid and contact agencies for emergency personnel.
- Maintain case numbers across jurisdictions; enter data into GCIC/NCIC networks.
- Perform basic office tasks and related duties.
- Computers and related software.
- Standard office practices and equipment.
- County geography and road names.
- Principles of emergency and non‑emergency communications operations.
- Emergency codes and signals.
- Regulations and procedures of state and national crime information centers.
- Communications equipment, CAD procedures, and medical terminology.
- Type minimum 30 words per minute.
- Multi‑task and make quick decisions.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Interpersonal communication and relations.
- Desk work; intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and stooping.
- Office environment may be noisy.
Full‑time 12‑hour schedule. Hourly rate $18.10 (Grade 10A). After training, hourly rate increases to $19.01 (Grade 11A) for a 6‑month probationary period. Upon completion of the probationary period, hourly rate increases to $19.98 (Grade 12A).

Minimum Qualifications- 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
