SY Athletic Trainer

JOB GOAL: The Athletic Trainer assists in the development and implementation of programs for the prevention of injuries to student athletes, administers first aid and emergency medical care, administers rehabilitation for injuries, and to do other related work as required

Work Days: 220- work hours vary

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Health related field.
• National Athletic Trainers Association Certification.
• Prefer 3 years to 4 years of experience.
• Such alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

• Prompt and regular attendance
• Knowledge of normal anatomical structure and function
• Instructs athletes in therapeutic and strength and conditioning programs
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of athletic injury and illness
• Informs athletes and parents of important aspects of an individual’s present condition, including concussion, wound care, first aid and follow up care
• Maintains all injury data and athletic training documentation in a concise and legible manner
• Coordinates and provides supervision over substitute athletic trainers and/or emergency management technicians
• Develops treatment programs in accordance with findings and evaluations and goals established by the injury assessment or by the treating physician
• Maintains awareness of all applicable policies and procedures
• Assists and monitors with the overall safety and wellbeing of all student athletes as related to COVID-19 procedures and guidelines.
• All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent of Schools
