JOB SUMMARY
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for dedicated Paramedics within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department. This position is responsible for administering appropriate emergency medical treatment at the Paramedic level to patients.
MAJOR DUTIES- Knowledge of emergency medical practices, techniques, and standards.
- Knowledge of radio communications.
- Knowledge of ambulance operation, use, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of the procedures for handling special equipment and patient care items.
- Knowledge of county roads, city streets and geography.
- Knowledge of state and federal requirements.
- Knowledge of departmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the operation of advanced medical equipment.
- Skill in the provision of medical care under emergency conditions.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in supervision and management.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects (>100 lbs.), climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed in an office, in a very noisy place, or outdoors occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
This position has functional supervision over assigned personnel within the EMS department including EMT, EMT-I and EMT-A.
WORK SCHEDULE, SALARY AND BENEFITSAvailable full-time shift options may include:
- Two 24-hour shifts for 48 hours weekly
- Two 16-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift per week for a total of 40 hours/ week.
Annual compensation depends upon years of experience:
- Less than 5 years - $21.63/hour
- 5 to 9 years - $22.51/hour
- 10 or more years - $23.42/hour

Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
- More than one year of related experience required.
- Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license.
- Possession of appropriate state EMS certification at the Paramedic level.
- American Heart or Red Cross CPR required
- American Heart Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
- PHTLS preferred
- PALS preferred
