Work Schedule

Combination of inpatient and outpatient coverage; rotating 12-hour inpatient shifts (days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required) and outpatient clinic hours Monday–Friday, 07:30–16:30; 80 hours per pay period

Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program
    • Graduate education must qualify the provider to practice as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
    • Experience in a hospital-based inpatient setting is required
    • Experience must include Care of neonates in Level II and/or Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU)
    • Assessment, diagnosis, and management of premature and critically ill newborns
    • Collaboration with neonatologists, pediatricians, nursing staff, and ancillary services
  • License/Certification:
    • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license (any U.S. state or territory accepted)
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification (NCC or equivalent)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or Red Cross
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or Red Cross
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA or Red Cross
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - current
    • DEA Registration (active and unrestricted)
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care to newborns in inpatient and outpatient settings, including high-risk and critically ill neonates
  • Perform detailed neonatal assessments, develop diagnoses, and implement evidence-based treatment plans
  • Manage and monitor neonates requiring intensive care, respiratory support, and specialized interventions
  • Perform neonatal procedures within scope of practice, including resuscitation and stabilization
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with hospital policies and clinical guidelines
  • Collaborate closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Educate and counsel parents and caregivers regarding neonatal conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in the electronic health record
  • Comply with all Winn Army Community Hospital policies, DHA standards, and applicable federal regulations
  • Participate in quality assurance, patient safety initiatives, and performance improvement activities as required
