Hours per week: 40 hours/week, Monday‑Friday, 8 AM‑4 PM

Location: World's End, Hingham, MA
What You’ll DoLead a summer youth camp for 30 elementary‑age campers in the unique 400‑acre peninsula habitat at World's End. Oversee daily activities, empower staff, support campers’ needs, communicate with parents, and maintain a safe, engaging environment.
- Plan and facilitate staff training week, including educational methods, curriculum development, safety, emergency training, and medical/behavioral scenarios.
- Supervise and support Camp Educators (Counselors), fostering their growth and filling in during absences.
- Demonstrate environmental education activities and encourage independent leadership by counselors.
- Provide support and feedback that empowers counselors to collaboratively create a fun, intentional camp experience.
- Schedule and oversee breaks, observe staff in action for evaluation.
- Lead weekly staff meetings, including team building and morale boosting.
- Communicate with parents about camper experiences, handling sensitive conversations when necessary.
- Support campers with social‑emotional challenges, manage behavior incidents, maintain incident log with the South Shore Camps Behavior Specialist.
- Act as Health Care Supervisor, responding to injuries, dispensing medications, and maintaining medical log.
- Train and supervise Counselors‑in‑Training (ages 15‑17).
- Take and manage photos for parent communications and marketing.
- Organize and monitor supply inventory.
This seasonal, non‑exempt position is 40 hours/week and reports directly to the South Shore School & Youth Programs Manager/Camp Director.
Requirements What You’ll Need- Completed or working toward a Bachelor's degree in education, environmental education, science, psychology, or a related field.
- 1‑3 years of experience in camp, classroom teaching, environmental/informal education, or childcare for ages 5‑10.
- Special interest in place‑based education, especially in coastal environments.
- Experience leading a team and fostering a supportive growth and communication environment.
- Experience designing environmental education programs.
- Highly organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude, able to work outside in variable summer weather with children.
- Ability to take initiative, accomplish tasks timely, and use sound judgment when obstacles arise.
- Outgoing, enthusiastic, and joyful in all work.
- Demonstrated inclusion of all participants and openness to learning new experiences.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Full availability for staff training (June 8‑19) and all eight weeks of camp (June 22‑August 14), Monday‑Friday, 8 AM‑4 PM; part‑time availability in late May/early June for preparation.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Certificates:
American Camp Association Camp Director course (or equivalent), First Aid and CPR certification, and current U.S. work authorization. - Satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
