We are seeking a Recreational Therapist who uses recreational activities and interventions to improve the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of individuals with disabilities, illnesses, injuries, or other conditions. By promoting engagement in activities such as sports, games, crafts, and outdoor adventures, they help clients develop life skills, reduce stress, and enhance their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess the physical, emotional, and social needs of clients through interviews, observations, and evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on the client’s interests, abilities, and therapeutic goals
- Plan and facilitate recreational activities such as games, arts and crafts, sports, nature walks, and other leisure activities tailored to the client's abilities and goals.
- Ensure that activities are designed to promote physical, social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being.
- Lead both group and one-on-one recreational therapy sessions to engage clients and encourage socialization, cooperation, and team-building.
- Provide supervision and support during activities to ensure safety and proper participation.
- Help clients develop social, cognitive, motor, and emotional skills through tailored activities.
- Assist clients in gaining or regaining independence and improving their functional abilities, such as mobility, communication, and self-care skills.
- Track the progress of clients in reaching their therapeutic goals and objectives.
- Maintain detailed records of activities, client performance, and any changes in condition.
- Work with clinical team , to coordinate holistic care plans for clients.
- Share observations and progress updates with the healthcare team to ensure integrated care.
- Educate clients and their families about the benefits of recreational therapy and encourage ongoing participation in leisure activities outside of therapy.
- Advocate for recreational opportunities in community and healthcare settings for people with disabilities.
- Ensure that activities are safe and appropriate for the client’s physical and emotional needs, minimizing the risk of injury or stress.
- Monitor client well-being during activities and make adjustments as needed.
