Job Title: Estimator - Groundworks
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Package: Open to discussion
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering to join our growing team based in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to take the next step in their career within a well-established and reputable contractor.
Key Responsibilities- Preparing accurate cost estimates for groundworks and associated civil engineering projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Carrying out take-offs and producing detailed Bills of Quantities
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
- Preparing and submitting competitive tenders within deadlines
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal project teams
- Attending pre- and post-tender meetings as required
- Proven experience as an Estimator within groundworks and/or civil engineering
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent numerical and commercial awareness
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
- Competitive salary (£50k-£75k depending on experience)
