CNC Turner (Setter/Operator)

If you're a capable CNC Turner who takes pride in producing right-first-time parts, this could be a great long-term move. Join a quality-focused machining team where consistency, standards and good workmanship are genuinely valued.

About the role

In this hands-on production position, you'll set and operate FANUC-controlled Nakamura CNC lathes, producing repeat components to tight tolerances. You'll also support continuous improvement-especially on new or developing jobs where the best method, tooling and paperwork need to be established and embedded.

Key responsibilities
  • Set and operate CNC turning machines to specification and agreed work instructions
  • Measure and inspect parts to confirm conformance prior to first-off submission
  • Produce first-off batches for First Article approval
  • Support first production parts through FAIR and/or PPAP requirements
  • Help build stable, repeatable production (methods, tooling and supporting documentation)
  • Suggest CI ideas and help implement approved improvements to quality, efficiency and consistency
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and relevant departments to maintain flow and standards
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and safe working practices at all times
  • Support additional shop-floor tasks where your skills are required
What we're looking for

Required:

  • Proven CNC turning experience at setter/operator level
  • Strong quality mindset and ability to follow specifications and instructions
  • Able to work to realistic deadlines without compromising standards

Desirable:

  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship
  • FANUC control experience
  • Experience working to control plans
  • 5S / Lean manufacturing exposure
  • AS9100 knowledge/experience (advantageous)
