Job Summary

The Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the Power Plant and associated facilities. The IC&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical Power Plant equipment and systems. The IC&E Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and works in cooperation with the operating utility on matters pertaining to the daily operation of the Plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Health and Safety

• Have a strong working knowledge of the Contour Global Health & Safety Management System and its safe work practices, such as Permit to Work, Management of Change and Contractor Safety.
• Coach and mentor facility employees through engagement on proper safety behaviors, use of the Contour Global Management System and its expectations, and ongoing participation in Health & Safety activities such as inspections, incident investigations and visible felt leadership.
• Verify job tasks are adequately reviewed before initiating work and when changes occur in the work environment or task requirements.
• Ensure all incidents and potential adverse events, such as near misses, are quickly communicated to Plant leadership and Health & Safety site or regional support.

Main Duties

• Perform preventive maintenance on all major equipment and systems, as well as emergency backup systems.
• Maintain complete equipment files, logs and drawings for all designated equipment.
• Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain Plant reliability, and assist in physical inventories.
• Participate in the administrative maintenance of Plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive and predictive maintenance records.
• Work shifts as required to support the operation of the Plant.
• Inspect, repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4,160 volts.
• Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and turbine control equipment.
• Maintain all Plant instrumentation and electrical test equipment.
• Fully support and participate in Contour Global Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
• Strive for excellence and look for opportunities to make work more efficient and of higher quality.
• Analyze issues, identify the root cause of near misses and failures, and take action to prevent recurrence.
• Effectively use Contour Global practices and methodology for continuous improvement.
