Job Overview

The Hydro Vac Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day Hydro Vac excavation operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The role involves managing crews, coordinating equipment and schedules, and maintaining strong communication with clients, site personnel, and management.

General Expectations

• Consistent attendance – Understand that last‑minute callouts, no call/no‑shows, tardiness, and failure to schedule PTO appropriately can lead to disciplinary action up to termination.
• Professional appearance – Maintain good hygiene and grooming and represent Warrior Technologies to the highest standard.
• Communication – Be respectful and professional in all verbal, written, and electronic communication.
• Paperwork – Complete required paperwork timely, including new‑hire, benefits, work orders, and safety paperwork.
• Timekeeping – Accurately clock in/out, enter ticket numbers, and notify supervisor of missed punches.
• Multi‑Departmental Needs – May be required to operate other company vehicles for customer coverage.

• Zero Tolerance Workplace – Positive drug/alcohol screen results in immediate termination.
• Safe Driving – Always practice safe driving.
• Safety Training – Complete all required safety training on time.
• PPE – Always wear issued personal protective equipment.
• Accident Reporting – Report accidents, incidents, and near‑misses immediately to supervisor.

Position Specific Expectations Operational Management

• Supervise Hydro Vac operators, swampers, and field crews on job sites.
• Plan and schedule daily work assignments and equipment deployment.
• Monitor job progress to ensure timelines and project goals are met.
• Conduct pre‑and post‑job inspections to ensure work quality and safety compliance.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, local jurisdiction standards).
• Lead daily safety meetings (tailgate/toolbox talks).
• Ensure all staff use proper PPE and follow safe excavation and confined space entry procedures.
• Investigate and document any incidents, near‑misses, or equipment damage.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on training to crew members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and recommend development opportunities.
• Promote a positive work culture emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and safety.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Oversee proper operation, maintenance, and inspection of Hydro Vac units and related equipment.
• Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance with shop/mechanics.
• Ensure accurate daily vehicle inspections (DVIRs) and maintenance logs.

Administration & Reporting

• Complete daily job reports, timesheets, and project documentation accurately.
• Communicate regularly with project managers, clients, and dispatch regarding project updates and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Hydro Vac or vacuum excavation operations.
• Previous supervisory or crew lead experience required.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record (air brake endorsement preferred).
• Strong knowledge of excavation safety, utility locating, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and job specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Capable of working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• Physically fit to perform field work as needed.
