OpportunityEY Private Tax is a growing practice within EY focusing on serving privately held companies, their owners, and families – from family‑owned businesses to private‑equity‑owned companies. These high‑growth private companies range from startups to multi‑billion‑dollar global enterprises. You’ll work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects, serving as the key point of contact for a wide range of clients and colleagues.
This role offers cross‑border and cross‑functional teaming and supports your professional leadership and business acumen.
- Research tax issues to develop effective tax planning strategies.
- Translate complex data from a range of sources into client‑ready insights and deliverables.
- Build effective long‑term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide tailored service.
- Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain your reputation in your field by continuously updating and sharing your technical and best‑practice knowledge.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals, review work, and ensure they have the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to excel.
- Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field and significant tax, business, or financial planning experience.
- CPA certification or membership in the bar.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.
- Experience with federal and state personal and trust taxation.
- Experience with flow‑through entities (S‑Corps, partnerships, LLCs).
- A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems.
- Experience with gift, estate, and trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.
- A commitment to continuous learning.
- Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence in challenging senior colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Willingness to travel as needed, and experience working in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Proven record in a professional services environment.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt work style to collaborate with internal and client team members.
- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range of $106,500 to $195,100 (US). Location specific ranges apply.
