Security Officer; Armed

Position Summary

This armed position is under the direct supervision of the Manager for assigned high‑profile sites and performs a variety of security‑related duties. You will observe and report activities and incidents at assigned locations, providing security and safety for client property, visitors, and personnel. As an armed officer, you may respond to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response as dictated by the situation and protocol.

You will also assist in preserving order, enforce regulations and directives for the site, control access through the admittance process, monitor entrances and exits, and prevent unapproved or unlawful entry. Some assignments may involve patrolling on foot or in vehicle, checking for unsafe conditions such as hazards, unlocked doors, and security violations; protecting evidence or scenes of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or investigations;

and preparing logs or reports as requested. The role may expose you to stressful situations.

• Control access to the client site or facility through the admittance process, preclude unauthorized access, and assist visitors with legitimate entry needs; screen visitors and client employees efficiently to expedite their admittance.
• Respond to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force, maintain proficiency with assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons, and follow established protocol and required training.
• Provide an atmosphere in which all client employees and visitors know the client cares about their needs; offer courteous, respectful, and pleasant interactions and present a good image of the client and its security department.
• Communicate openly, honestly, and responsively; provide authorized information about the site and surrounding area to visitors as requested.
• Monitor entrances and exits, prevent unapproved or unlawful entry, control movement of people and vehicles, operate gates and examine vehicle contents, monitor remote entrances with CCTV, operate remote access devices, and calmly direct persons who cause a disturbance to leave the property.
• Patrol the assigned site on foot or in vehicle; check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspect buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear.
• Protect evidence or the scene of an incident during accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; set up barriers and signage; provide direction or information to others.
• Prepare logs or reports as required; write or type reports and enter information into a computer using standard grammar; inspect security control logs and take action as needed.
• Observe and report incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel, or public safety authorities as appropriate and as required by the site.
• Respond to incidents such as fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, or other conditions per site procedures, company guidelines, and training or certification.
• Carry out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.
