Quality Assurance Assistant

Oliver Kay Hoddesdon is an established part of the Bidfood group, specializing in fresh produce and providing a fresh and chilled offering to its own customers and to Bidfood customers. Acting as a hub, the depot supplies Bidfood wholesale sites with goods overnight and operates a seven‑day telesales, stock and warehouse operation with a six‑day delivery service.

• Daily inspection of food products in the chilled warehouse, ensuring compliance with the company’s quality specifications as well as all food safety and legal requirements.
• Re‑grading of fresh produce.
• Identification and reporting of both product and operational non‑conformances.
• Control of non‑conforming materials and completion/monitoring of corrective actions as required.
• Calibration of depot equipment.
• Support investigation of customer complaints.
• Provide a point of contact for the warehouse team on quality issues.
• Assist the Technical Team in driving improvements through the site’s Food Safety and Quality Culture Plan.

• A keen eye for detail and an accurate, methodical approach to work.
• Ability to react quickly and effectively under pressure to meet targets.
• Good communication skills, enabling interaction with other departments and external suppliers.
• Computer literacy.
• Basic Food Safety, Auditing or HACCP qualification (ideal but not mandatory).
• Ideally, previous experience in a similar role within Quality Control or Quality Assurance for a food business.

The role is day shift, working 5 days out of 7, with some Bank Holiday shifts as part of a team rota.
