Job DescriptionThe Department of Art & Art History invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Studio Art in Printmaking. This is a tenure‑track, full‑time position (24 workload hours: 18 teaching hours, 6 research/creative activity hours) on a 9‑month contract to begin in August 2026. We are a NASAD accredited, BA granting, fine‑arts program in the context of a Christian liberal arts college.
The department seeks an artist deeply engaged in printmaking and the expanded field. The candidate must possess a strong foundation in traditional printmaking practices, including intaglio, relief, screen print, and plate lithography. Proficiency with hybrid and digital technologies in the context of printmaking is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to guide students through traditional printmaking processes toward innovative and experimental thinking that engages contemporary discourse in the field.
Integration of art theory is expected in advanced studio courses.
Embracing interdisciplinary explorations and promoting student excellence within a liberal arts context is at the core of the department's mission. Teaching all levels of printmaking to undergraduate Studio Art majors and non‑majors, the successful candidate will also contribute to the college's general education curriculum, potentially teaching First‑Year Seminars and the department's senior capstone course on a rotating basis. Rotating department leadership is expected of all tenured faculty members.
The Department of Art and Art History features a 1230 square‑foot print shop equipped with an American French Tool Press, 36 × 60 inch press bed, a Charles Brand Press, 26 × 48 inch press bed, a Kimmel England Press, an etching room, and a screen‑printing darkroom with a large‑format vacuum exposure unit, 72 inch washout booth equipped with a power washer, and thirty 20 × 24 inch silkscreens. Studio‑offices are provided for faculty in the De Pree Art Center.
