Job ResponsibilitiesRole Summary
The Product Engineer at Magna Engineered Glass applies engineering principles to design and develop product concepts, components, or assemblies per the requirements of Customer Specifications and Design/Performance Requirements.
Job Purpose
The Product Engineer will be responsible for process, material, and product development targeted toward launch of new product programmes for Magna Exteriors. They will also support current production programmes with Customer Driven VA/VE investigations and local support with Manufacturing Lead CI events, as requested.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Technical Field. - Years of
Experience:
4 – 9 Years. - Microsoft Tools:
Proven skills in Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word. - Travel:
Ability to travel up to 25% during peak launch cycle. - Work Environment:
Willing and physically capable of working on the floor for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 35 pounds. - Direct Customer/Supplier Experience, New Product Launch Experience, Gated Launch Experience, Automotive OEM Experience, Negotiation and Public Speaking
Experience:
Skilled.
- Works closely with Magna Exteriors Design group to develop future concepts and advanced systems, striving for Best‑in‑Class Design for Manufacturing (DfMA).
- Leads product engineering research, design, and development from concept to validated system.
- Supports creation of Change Requests and Change Notices within Magna Change X tool.
- Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, and directs technical work related to product design and development.
- Analyzes complex design problems using engineering and mathematical principles.
- Leads Customer‑facing VA/VE investigations and execution.
- Coordinates development of materials and services for product demonstration.
- Identifies best practices and communicates lessons learned.
- Supports prototype, pre‑production and production manufacturing and build activities.
- Performs other duties as necessary for project completion and departmental goals.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Supports program management in product and process development.
- Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Product Specification and Verification.
- Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM).
- Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R).
- Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE).
- Communication and English Proficiency.
- Ethics and Initiative.
- Safety and Customer Focus.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Alignment.
- Solid Mathematics Skills.
- GD&T Common Knowledge and ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Timeline Principal knowledge and usage of Agile and/or Waterfall.
- Ability to create and maintain DFMEA, DVP, open issue lists and timelines.
- GD&T – ASME Certification.
- VA/VE Certification.
- SAE Product Engineering Tools and Methods Certificate.
- Six Sigma Belt Certificate.
- Computer Aided Design Knowledge (CAD).
