Position Summary

The Corporate Controller is a vital business leader who partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and finance leadership. This role is crucial in shaping Hudsonville Ice Cream’s long-term strategy by overseeing financial performance and reporting. Additionally, the Corporate Controller will partner with operations and supply chain leadership to drive improvement in the company’s key KPI’s and cost performance efforts.

In this capacity, they will work with cross functional company leadership to ensure that strategic objectives are achieved company wide.

Duties & Responsibilities Team Development & Leadership
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing accounting team that reflects The Hudsonville Way.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote professional growth and clear communication across departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and effectively communicate the organization’s financial priorities with other teams and departments.
  • Drive cost savings results in collaboration with continuous improvement, operations, and supply chain leadership.
Cost Accounting Leadership
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of cost accounting systems and methodologies.
  • Oversee standard costing, variance analysis, and cost roll ups across multiple platforms and product lines.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Provide cost insights to support pricing strategies, margin analysis, and operational decision making.
Capex Reporting and Investment Recommendations
  • Oversee financial reporting on capex projects.
  • Develop and provide financial guidance around new investments to improve the company’s future performance.
Annual Operating Plan Leadership
  • Lead the annual operating plan creation, in alignment with the company’s long range financial targets and key strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze variances to plan and provide actionable insights to improve cost control and margin performance.
  • Work with CFO and leadership team to overlay strategic aspirations into annual plan.
Financial Reporting
  • Provide leadership around the company’s month end close process.
  • Oversee timely and accurate month-end close and reporting of financial statements and internal financial reporting packages.
  • Report on key KPI’s and variance analysis to drive action with supply chain and operations leadership in the pursuit of achieving the company’s strategic aspirations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance required.
  • Minimum 7 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in food manufacturing, CPG/retail, or a similar industry.
  • CPA or CMA certification required.
  • Deep expertise in cost accounting, KPI and variance analysis, and manufacturing finance.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Prior experience with Anaplan is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Power BI.
  • Mentor, coach, and share prior experiences with a rapidly growing organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment by adeptly managing multiple priorities and rapidly changing directions.
