Certified Medication Aide- CNA

• Administer prescribed medications(oral, topical, inhalation, and mucosal) to patients in accordance with state regulations.
• Adhere to the “Five Rights” of medication administration.
• Monitor and report patient reactions to medications.
• Assist nurses and healthcare staff in long-term care and assisted living settings.
• Maintain accurate records and uphold the highest standards of patient safety.
• Aide in total care of grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communicating, turning, repositioning, or other needs (ADLs).
• Assist with various tasks including vital signs, resident’s weights, applying creams/ointments, collecting specimens, etc.

• High school graduate or successful completion of GED.
• Successful completion of a Michigan state approved nurse assistant certification course or other education that meets state certification requirements.
• Must hold current nurse assistant certification in Michigan.
• Must have worked at least 2,000 hours as a nurse aide in a nursing home or skilled nursing facility during the two years prior, especially caring for the elderly with memory loss.
• Completion of a Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) - approved Medication Aide training program
• Successful completion of the state CMA competency exam.
• Current listing on the Michigan Nurse Aide Registry as CMA.
