Key Responsibilities- Fabricate, machine, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures from blueprints or CAD models.
- Repair and maintain existing production tooling to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.
- Inspect finished tools and components using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with specifications and tight tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling malfunctions, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to develop and improve tool designs and manufacturing processes.
- Select appropriate materials and heat treat tools as required to achieve desired hardness and durability.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders).
- Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.
- Demonstrated experience in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Skilled in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment processes.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Solid Works, Mastercam).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Ability to mentor and train junior toolmakers or apprentices.
- Familiarity with advanced machining processes such as EDM or 5‑axis milling.
