The Animal Caretaker is the person who walks those rows, watches the birds, and catches the small problems before they turn into big ones. Egg lines back up. Ventilation drifts. A door gets left unlatched. Somebody has to notice.

The operation is an egg production facility in Holland, Michigan, running automated environmental and egg flow systems inside climate-managed poultry houses. Barn temperature tracks with the weather outside, noise stays moderate, and airborne particles and moving mechanical parts are part of the setting. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas.

• $17.33 per hour
• Five days per week with two days off, weekends required
• Weekly pay
• Consistent, year-round schedule inside a controlled production environment
• On-the-job training on environmental systems, egg flow computers, and bird handling procedures

• Must be able to speak, read, and write basic English
• Record of good attendance and availability for a flexible schedule including weekends
• Comfortable working in close, direct contact with live animals
• Ability to stand and walk constantly, lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
• Accurate documentation of daily and weekly tasks on required forms
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Self-directed and organized with limited supervision
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
• One year in an agricultural environment or animal care preferred
• Working knowledge of laying hen husbandry preferred
