The Pre-Admission Testing RN focuses on the physical, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual preparation for the perioperative experience. Interview and assessment techniques are used to identify potential or actual problems prior to the scheduled procedure. Patient education and interventions are initiated to optimize positive patient outcomes. Services offered are provided in accordance with national standards of practice  which are applicable to surgical services i.e. AORN, CDC, ASA, ASPAN and medical specialty standards and Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1978, Article 15 (Health Occupations) Part 172 (Nursing).

The RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patient served.
** Pay Range:**$29.74 - $44.61/hour

* Employment Type:

** Part Time, 40 hours every 2 weeks
*
* Schedule:

** 8:00 am - 4:30 pm on varied weekdays, no weekends or holidays
** Requirements:
** Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing Program required, Current Michigan RN License (or completed by end of orientation) required, Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire) required
** Collect patient health data to assess, identify, and follow up on clinical conditions that affect the perioperative care of the patient prior to the scheduled surgery/procedure.
*** Collect and document comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation. Assessments are thorough, timely and accurate and include but are not limited to the physiological, socio-cultural, safety and spiritual needs of patients (including significant other).
* Demonstrate ability to use critical thinking skills to analyze assessment data to determine the pertinent diagnosis or issues.
* Respond appropriately to changing needs of patients, including response to emergency/life threatening situations.
** Plan and Initiate appropriate interventions based on patient needs enhance surgical outcomes.
*** Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
* Develop and document an individualized plan of care which incorporates the patient's significant other as appropriate and that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
* Identify initial and ongoing discharge planning needs.
* Demonstrate the ability to identify, evaluate and document the patient's response to care given.
* Coordinate care across the continuum to meet the identified and anticipated needs of the patient and his/her support network.
** Educate the patient/family/significant other for their experience throughout the peri-anesthesia continuum.
*** Demonstrate ability to optimize patient learning through evaluating a patient's learning abilities and carrying out the education of the patient
* Validate response to learning
** Reassess and proactively address issues prior to the scheduled surgery/procedure to prevent delays or cancellations of scheduled surgeries/procedure
*** Function as advocate for patient/significant other.
* Demonstrate skills needed to implement the identified plan of care
* Demonstrate ability to prioritize and adjust priorities based on patient/unit needs.
* Demonstrate ability to evaluate and document patient's progress towards attainment of desired outcomes.
