Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II supports Cell Equipment maintenance with a primary focus on Cutter module reliability and performance. This position is responsible for the inspection, rebuilding, adjustment, and verification of Cutter modules used in battery manufacturing equipment. The technician performs precision mechanical rebuilds and setup, maintains consistent rebuild standards and traceability, troubleshoots recurring equipment issues, and ensures rebuilt modules meet established mechanical, safety, and quality requirements before returning to production.

  • Perform complete Cutter module rebuilds in accordance with approved maintenance standards, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Inspect upper, center, and final Cutter modules and components for wear, damage, alignment, and suitability for reuse.
  • Perform blade replacement, setup, and blade-gap adjustments using approved methods, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Verify blade gap using approved setting jigs and calibrated precision measuring equipment.
  • Assemble modules according to established torque specifications using calibrated torque tools, including approved Nord-Lock requirements when applicable.
  • Inspect bearings, shafts, gears, servo motors, cams, couplings, fasteners, blades, and related components; replace components that do not meet established standards.
  • Complete required Cutter Module Inspection/Rebuild documentation, including component condition, measurements, parts replaced, final blade gap, and torque verification.
  • Maintain traceability of rebuilt modules, including module type, rebuild history, and installation line.
  • Perform post-rebuild functional verification and confirm established release criteria are met before returning modules to production.
  • Troubleshoot recurring Cutter/module failures, participate in root-cause analysis, and support corrective actions that improve equipment reliability.
  • Monitor recurring failure modes and spare-parts needs and communicate findings to Maintenance leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve module life, blade life, rebuild quality, equipment reliability, and mean time to repair (MTTR).
  • Maintain required quantities of ready-to-install rebuilt modules to support production and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Provide technical support and hands-on training to Maintenance Technicians on proper Cutter module removal, installation, inspection, rebuild, and setup practices.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Quality to resolve equipment issues and improve Cutter performance.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and approved maintenance practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
    • Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience with production manufacturing equipment, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and training.
  • Experience performing mechanical troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and equipment rebuilds.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, specifications, and tolerances.
