Position Overview
The Engineer 3/Senior Automation Engineer 1 provides support to the Drug Substance Manufacturing (DSM) facility. This includes implementation of changes to the Automation systems, updating design documents, executing testing, troubleshooting events, and being a part of Automation on-call support. This role focuses on leading the Automation scope for delivery of Delta
V logic for Clean-in-Place (CIP) & Clean Utilities process areas including WFI Generation and Distribution, WPU Generation and Distribution, Clean Steam Generation, and Waste Collection. The role also works with PLC-systems that interface with Delta
V DCS.

- Perform Automation activities, such as code configuration, document development, and test execution within several process areas
- Deliver accurate and on-time Automation work
- Create standard code utilizing complex control strategies
- Generate, review, and maintain various specification documents (e.g., URS, FS, DQ)
- Generate, review, and maintain various test protocols and functional testing documents (IQ, OQ)
- Build scope of work documents for internal and external partners
- Serve as on-call support for Automation inquiries and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Validation
- Conduct training and present information to team or other stakeholders
- Other duties, as assigned

- Ability to present and explain knowledge of several Automation subject areas to internal partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field
- 5 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field with 8 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience
- Master’s degree in a technical field relevant to Automation or Instrumentation & Controls with 6 years of Automation experience
Physical Requirements
Possible respiratory protection. May work in mechanical/production spaces requiring hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program. Will work in an environment operating a motor vehicle or Powered Industrial Truck. Ability to discern audible cues. Ability to inspect or perform a task with 20/20 corrected vision and distinguish color. Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include wrists, hands and/or fingers. Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools. Ability to move objects up to 10 lbs, 33 lbs. Ability to bend, push or pull, reach to retrieve materials from 18″ to 60″ in height, and use twisting motions.
