POSITION SUMMARY
The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Utility Technician I/II/III for our Distribution team. This position is responsible for providing daily maintenance and repair to the Town's water distribution and collection system to maintain water flow, sewer flow, and water quality throughout the Town.
The starting annual salary range is $43,266.48-$72,940.08 (Grades C,D,E).
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPSReports to the Field Supervisor of appropriate division. Works under direct supervision of the Field Supervisor. Work is checked for accuracy, quality and adherence to instructions. Employee may need to occasionally choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems but consults with Field Supervisor on matters not covered by guidelines. Incumbents have no supervisory responsibilities.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position with the work schedule as business hours, occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation. This position is also essential during emergencies and inclement weather.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
- Working knowledge of municipal maintenance and construction practices.
- Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements related to the work.
- Working knowledge of the traffic laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to use of tools and motorized equipment.
- Knowledge of the operation, care, and repair of maintenance equipment and tools.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards (OSHA) and safe work practices including Safety Data Sheets.
- Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence, and Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports consistent with the position.
- Ability to communicate clearly concisely and effectively in English with staff, administration, and the public in both written and verbal form.
