The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Utility Technician I/I/III to serve in our Utilities and Infrastructure department. This position is responsible for providing daily maintenance and repair to the Town's water distribution, storm water, and collection system to maintain water flow, sewer flow, and water quality throughout the Town.
The Utility Technician I/II/III-Stormwater would perform tasks in the maintenance and repair of stormwater infrastructure such as storm drains, stormwater piping systems, stormwater manholes, dissipators, catch basins, ditches, and culverts. Work includes cleaning, repair, and installation of stormwater infrastructure as well as regular clearing of sediment and organic debris. Work also involves special projects and related tasks to improve system performance.
Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Stormwater Crew Leader and is inspected for compliance with established standards.
Reports to the Field Supervisor of appropriate division. Works under direct supervision of the Field Supervisor. Work is checked for accuracy, quality and adherence to instructions. Employee may need to occasionally choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems but consults with Field Supervisor on matters not covered by guidelines. Incumbents have no supervisory responsibilities.
Starting salary $43,266.48-$72,940.08 (pay grade C/D/E) depending on relevant work experience. Work schedule is business hours with on-call rotation.
This position is considered essential during inclement weather and emergencies.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
- Working knowledge of municipal maintenance and construction practices.
- Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements related to the work.
- Working knowledge of the traffic laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to use of tools and motorized equipment.
- Knowledge of the operation, care, and repair of maintenance equipment and tools.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards (OSHA) and safe work practices including Safety Data Sheets.
- Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
