The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Utility Technician I/I/III to serve in our Utilities and Infrastructure department. This position is responsible for providing daily maintenance and repair to the Town's water distribution, storm water, and collection system to maintain water flow, sewer flow, and water quality throughout the Town.
The Utility Technician I/II/III-Stormwater would perform tasks in the maintenance and repair of stormwater infrastructure such as storm drains, stormwater piping systems, stormwater manholes, dissipators, catch basins, ditches, and culverts. Work includes cleaning, repair, and installation of stormwater infrastructure as well as regular clearing of sediment and organic debris. Work also involves special projects and related tasks to improve system performance.
Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Stormwater Crew Leader and is inspected for compliance with established standards.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Field Supervisor of appropriate division. Works under direct supervision of the Field Supervisor. Work is checked for accuracy, quality and adherence to instructions. Employee may need to occasionally choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems but consults with Field Supervisor on matters not covered by guidelines. Incumbents have no supervisory responsibilities.
Starting salary $43,266.48-$72,940.08 (pay grade C/D/E) depending on relevant work experience. Work schedule is business hours with on-call rotation.
This position is considered essential during inclement weather and emergencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Not all duties may be assigned to each position. The allocation of duties for this position will vary and will be highly dependent upon the division and certification level obtained.
1.Serves as a team member of stormwater technicians that must perform all tasks efficiently and effectively.
2.Inspects, repairs, rehabilitates and maintains storm water infrastructure within the Town of Holly Springs.
3.Performs maintenance on storm drain infrastructure, including ditching, culvert repair, replacements and catch basin rebuild and repair.
4.Inspect storm drains and catch basins, and records footage counts.
5.Inputs, updates and maintains information and records using computer programs.
6.Operates CCTV camera system to visually inspect and document line conditions.
7.Cleans and repairs storm drain infrastructure and documents the repairs; televises areas of infiltration, damage, buried inlets, and lines.
8.Assist with locating water, sewer and storm drain lines using electronic and mechanical equipment.
9.Adjusts, repairs and replaces storm drain grates, rings and covers.
10.Determines the staging of various work projects to ensure the appropriate labor, equipment and materials are utilized in an efficient manner. Transports equipment and materials to and from work sites.
11.Maintains up-to-date records of all maintenance activities.
12.Sprays herbicides/pesticides to control weeds/mosquitoes on Town property.
13.Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment.
14.Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
15.Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.
16.Provides backup assistance to other department personnel as needed.
17.Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data.
18.Completes written records of labor and materials used for each work project.
19.Performs emergency repairs and work as necessary.
20.Assist with maintenance, and repairs of water and sewer main breaks, force main breaks, and leaks, valves, fire hydrants as assigned.
21.Reports to work for after hour needs, as assigned.
