The teacher assistant plays a vital role in supporting the leadership of the classroom and collaborates with the teacher and staff to disciple students spiritually, academically, and socially. The role contributes to fostering Christian spiritual growth and supports Calvary Christian Academys religious mission to make disciples for Christ.

The teacher assistant interacts with students in the classroom, halls, restrooms, playground, and cafeteria. They also interact with the classroom teacher, staff, faculty, church staff, and parents.

• Adhere to specified professional dress.
• Provide child care for staff/CCA children on PMD days, teacher workdays, and during required monthly staff meetings.
• Supervise students during seatwork and provide personalized assistance.
• Assist with behavior management and provide one-on-one help for students needing academic support.
• Provide prayer and godly counsel to students.
• Supervise class during small-group instruction and help students grow in knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Assist specials teachers with the class as requested.
• Escort children to and from special classes, restrooms, clinic, and office as needed.
• Monitor students on the playground and in the cafeteria at lunch.
• Wipe tables/chairs and maintain cleanliness in the cafeteria area.
• Attend chapel with the class and participate in worship when appropriate.
• Observe and assess students academically and in spiritual maturity for discipleship purposes.
• Provide childcare coverage for CCFL/CCA staff meetings as needed.
• Notify the teacher of student behavior or academic needs as required.
• Recordkeeping, lesson preparation, and classroom tasks: collect and grade homework, record grades, prepare daily folders, copies/materials, and assist with parent volunteers.
• Maintain an orderly classroom, take daily attendance and lunch counts, decorate/take down bulletin boards, and manage correspondence as directed.
• Filing and other tasks as assigned by the teacher.
• Under administration: supervise children during morning drop-off, lunch, and afternoon pick-up; assist with orientation, planning days, meetings, and all-school events; serve as substitute teacher or office assistant when requested; greet during conferences as needed.

• Knowledge and ability to apply God’s Word; desire to serve the Lord and people.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Spiritual gifts of teaching, discernment, service, helps and exhortation.
• Two years of college education preferred.
• Computer skills and ability to multitask; strong time management and project-follow-through.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
