HOURS: As needed, on-call

LOCATION: Calvary Christian Academy, all campuses

Purpose Statement: The CCA substitute teacher/teacher assistant plays a vital role in furthering the mission of Calvary Christian Academy and will work in the capacity for which they are hired. As a teacher substitute, the individual will teach, train, lead, guide, and follow the lesson plans to properly educate the grade level(s) in their care. As a TA substitute, the individual will follow the lead of the teacher and fulfill all the tasks, which they are assigned.

These could be clerical tasks, supervision tasks, and class coverage tasks as needed. As a substitute, the individual must take ownership of the assigned role so that students are always well supervised and taught per the provided plans and or well assisted as in the role of TA.

Scope: The position is multifaceted in that the individual takes on the tasks of another staff member who is absent. As a substitute, this person is in constant contact with children, school staff, parents, and church staff.

The person who holds this position must be ordained, commissioned, or licensed as a Minister of the Gospel. The CCA substitute teacher/teacher assistant is a Minister of the Gospel in accordance with the requirements for licensure in Calvary Chapel’s Ecclesiastical Practices Manual. As a Minister, this role plays an important part in furthering the religious mission of Calvary Chapel.

• Be able to lift 40 lbs.
• Able to bend, and be flexible around kids.
• Bachelor's Degree (substitute teacher) or past three years of experience working with children (substitute teacher assistant).
• Ability to lead and communicate with children
• Ability to multi-task and become easily oriented
• The ability to be “with it” and monitor groups of children with a positive disciplinary approach
• Ability to be flexible and open to coming at the last minute and filling the gap where needs are evident
