Respiratory Therapist - District Float Pool – FT/PT/Per Diem – Days/Nights - Up to $10K Sign on Bonus - MHS

Patients depend on our team for the best in evidence-based care and innovative therapies, such as inhaled nitric oxide, high-frequency oscillation, and invasive and non-invasive ventilator support modalities. Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists (and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians) with the skills to provide a high level of quality service in settings including the ED, Trauma and Critical Care.
OverviewProvides care for patients on assigned units in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Opportunities available for Full time, Part time and Per Diem, Day and Night shifts. $20K Sign on Bonus available for Full Time. $10K Sign on Bonus available for Part Time.
Responsibilities- Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
- Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Demonstrates flexibility and competency to provide patient care throughout the South Broward Hospital District to a variety of patient populations.
- Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community resources.
- Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
- Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance, support groups, and other resources.

- Mechanical ventilation weaning/pulmonary mechanics
- Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV)

- Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program (required)
- ACLS (American Heart Association) and related credentials as specified (e.g., ACLS AHA ECARD, ACLS AHA-RQI ECARD)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) for NICU areas
- PALS ( Pediatrics) for pediatric areas
- PBRT:
Registered Respiratory Therapist license - Florida - Other credentials per state and facility requirements
Complexity of work requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to build positive relationships. The incumbent may work across the South Broward Hospital District in various units and patient populations. Two (2) years of experience in an acute care setting is required.
Certifications:
BLS, NRP, PALS, ACLS; license requirements per Florida.
Physical Requirements
- Bending and stooping, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying up to and over 75 lbs
- Frequent depth perception, color vision, hearing and speaking abilities
- Exposure to biohazards, blood and body fluids, and various chemicals
- Repetitive movements and equipment handling; computer use
