Hackensack Meridian Health is inviting applications for the Patient Observer role in the Float Pool, at Bayshore Per Diem-Day. This position is available 1 week ago with a focus on patient safety and observation.

Responsibilities- Provide a safe environment for patients on One-to-One Supervision for Suicide Precautions, Behavioral Restraints, Line of Sight, or Patient Safety.
- Maintain patient safety under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Work in isolation precautions situations.
- Conduct frequent checks for patients with a Patient Watch Order.
- Direct patients to prevent falls or wandering.
- Record and document patient behavior.
- Travel with patients as needed.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and behavioral standards.
- High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or GED‑equivalent program.
- Ability to remain mobile following patients’ movements, including standing for extended periods.
- Capability to work in isolation precautions settings.
- Prior experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
- Experience as a patient care technician, nursing assistant, medical assistant, EMT, nurse aide training, or current nursing/psychology student (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required prior to performing patient observation.
The starting rate of pay is $17.12 per hour and may vary based on data factors. Compensation is benchmarked against market data and factors such as experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget constraints. Some roles may also receive performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions. Shift differentials may apply for evening, night, or weekend shifts.
