Thursday 7 PM - 7 AM, Friday 7 PM - 7 AM, Saturday 6 PM - 7 AM. On call 11 PM - 7 AM Sunday required.
Job DescriptionThe Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities- Perform complex CT procedures.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history; ensure information is documented and scanned into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients and/or family members.
- Identify and/or administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Verify appropriateness of exam prescriptions and communicate with Radiologist and Referring Physician as necessary.
- Clarify prescriptions following appropriate CT protocols.
- Verify insurance authorization and coordinate with Finance for exam modifications.
- Schedule and obtain outside studies (CD) for comparison by Radiologists.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians or family members.
- Evaluate radiographs using PACS System for diagnostic value.
- Gather relevant information for protocols ensuring patient safety.
- Determine patient preparedness for procedures.
- Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
- Administer the appropriate type and dose of contrast media.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during procedures.
- Adhere to policies regarding attendance, behavior, and patient care.
- Lift and handle patients and equipment as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers.
- 2 years of GE experience required (GE Revolution Frontier 64 slice preferred).
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
- Thorough knowledge of PACS system and CT software/hardware.
- ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire;
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
