Role SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in Broadcast, IP, Cloud, and Zixi technologies to support the operational backbone of the MTN‑TV Service and its IP content distribution platform. This is a hands‑on, visible technical role where you’ll be responsible for systems integration, installation, troubleshooting, and live content delivery operations. The goal is to ensure the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of our broadcast infrastructure for seamless live TV delivery to our subscribers.
Reporting directly to the Broadcast MCR Manager, you will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and partners to build and operate a robust, scalable, and reliable TV content platform. This position requires onsite presence, and availability for on‑call support during technical emergencies as well as weekend coverage during scheduled live broadcast events.
What You’ll Be Doing Live TV Operations Support- Prepare and manage live signal delivery across various connectivity types (Internet, EVPL, P2P, MPLS).
- Configure and test devices prior to scheduled broadcasts.
- Monitor live feeds, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure uninterrupted broadcast delivery.
- Provide on‑call/on‑site support during technical issues and be available on weekends during critical live broadcast events.
- Manage end‑to‑end Zixi‑based streaming operations.
- Configure, test, and deploy IP stream packages.
- Serve as the primary technical contact with Zixi for support, upgrades, and feature rollouts.
- Monitor and maintain Zixi server clusters; elevate issues and resolve bugs proactively.
- Configure and maintain servers, streaming applications, receivers, and connectivity for programming continuity operations.
- Troubleshoot video/audio signals, software, and hardware components.
- Document workflows, system diagrams, follow and enforce SOPs to reduce service disruptions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and operational staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead or support the deployment of new technologies, upgrades, and infrastructure migrations.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including 5G, cloud platforms, and AI‑driven tools.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., Closed Captioning, DVB Subtitles).
- Implement monitoring and QA techniques for consistent, high‑quality service delivery.
- Operate and maintain satellite compression head ends.
- Collaborate with satellite capacity teams and vendors.
- Plan and lead technical initiatives, manage requirements, and define system workflows.
- Setup, maintain, configure and troubleshoot IT/IP Networks, servers, and software applications related to IP, Cloud and TV content delivery platforms, including on‑prem infrastructure, Internet connectivity, and streaming clusters.
- Develop, deploy and maintain new servers, OS (Windows and Linux), applications, widgets, APIs, and apps aimed to optimize products, services, operations, efficiency and reliability.
