Base pay range $182,000–$214,000 per year

About the OpportunityThis open position is with First Energy Service Company, a subsidiary of First Energy Corp. It is within the State Finance and Regulatory Affairs organization and reports to the Vice President, NJ State Finance and Regulatory Affairs. The role is onsite and based in New Jersey.
Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and maintain positive business relationships with the Board of Public Utilities (BPU).
- Serve as a key liaison for First Energy to the BPU.
- Communicate with external stakeholders on a wide range of issues.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on all regulatory matters at the BPU and make recommendations to management to support decision making.
- Develop and execute regulatory strategies that advance the goals of the company.
- Coordinate regulatory activities with applicable First Energy business units such as External Affairs, Legal, Rates, Operations, and Finance to ensure proper alignment with business objectives.
- Supervise staff that address escalated complaints to the BPU to ensure proper resolution.
- Understand and stay current on all applicable laws, pending legislation, administrative rules and policies that impact First Energy.
- Act with a high degree of integrity, honesty, and credibility when representing the company.
- Foresee regulatory, legislative, and policy opportunities to advance the company's business objectives.
- Represent First Energy at industry meetings, conferences, and events.
- Bachelor's degree in business, technical, or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience required. Relevant work experience will include working with external audiences to communicate/advocate positions.
- Electric utility industry and utility regulations experience required.
- Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Exceptional relationship management, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Business and political acumen.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Manage multiple priorities and focus on urgent tasks.
- Ability to work after normal business hours, including evening or weekend travel to industry conferences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
