Fleet Manager – Holtsville, NY
Our client, a well-respected specialty construction services company, is looking for a Fleet Manager based out of their Holtsville, NY location. The Fleet Manager position is responsible for the management, maintenance, compliance, and optimization of the company's Northeast fleet of vehicles and equipment across multiple states and operating divisions. This role ensures fleet readiness, safety, DOT compliance, cost control, and efficient utilization to support field operations on infrastructure, industrial, and government projects.
BasePay Range
$52,000 – $82,000
Key Responsibilities- Fleet Operations & Maintenance
:
Manage day‑to‑day operations of the NE fleet, including trucks, vans, trailers, lifts, specialty equipment, and support vehicles; develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules; coordinate repairs with internal mechanics and external vendors; ensure all vehicles and equipment are safe, operational, and job‑ready; oversee equipment assignments, transfers, and demobilization between jobs; develop cost‑reduction strategies and lifecycle replacement plans; manage vendor relationships (leasing, fuel cards, repair facilities);
maintain accurate fleet inventory and asset records. - Compliance & Safety
:
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state regulations; maintain vehicle registrations, inspections, permits, and insurance documentation; track CDL requirements, driver qualifications, and medical certifications; support accident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions; work closely with Safety and Operations teams on fleet‑related incidents.
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management, preferably in construction, industrial services, or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state safety regulations (FMCSA, DOT, OSHA).
- Experience managing multi‑state fleets.
- Familiar with heavy equipment, specialty vehicles, vacuum trucks, and trailers.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with Operations, Safety, Finance, and Field Leadership.
- Proficient with fleet management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Salary Range: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour depending on experience.
