In this role you will provide effective and efficient administrative support to HM Coastguard Operations to ensure a high level of customer service is given to both internal and external stakeholders.
HM Coastguard (HMCG) is the operational arm of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) with responsibility for 6 key missions - Search and Rescue, Pollution Response, Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Safety, Maritime Security and Emergency and Disaster management.
Top Responsibilities- Ensuring appropriate Operational Support resource is allocated for the administrative support for national functions.
- Providing resource for full executive secretariat functions and managing administrative tasks for HMCG management operational meetings and working groups as required.
- Management of the HMCG uniform ordering process.
- Providing Operational Support resource to HMCG Operations.
- Management and administration of team email inboxes.
- Line management activities of the reporting officers including conducting performance management reviews, staff welfare, leave and absence requests and authorisation of staff travel and expenses.
- You will line manage 5-7 direct reports

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Experienced in line‑managing a remote team, ensuring clarity, support and consistent performance.
- Highly organised and detail‑focused, able to provide clear, timely and accurate secretariat support to enable effective governance and decision‑making.
- A strong team player with clear written and verbal communication skills, able to build positive working relationships.
- Accurate and flexible, able to manage a busy and varied workload and work effectively with limited supervision.
