Position Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Group exercise instructors will instruct group classes, providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

- Availability to teach early morning, evening, or weekends per week for those interested in teaching higher intensity and specialty classes (Yoga, Pilates)
- Weekday morning/early afternoon required for those interested in teaching older adult classes
- 1+ year of group exercise experience preferred
- Possess certification/training from ACE, AFAA, NASM, or SCW Fitness or certification in area of expertise
- Good human relation skills and willingness to serve members
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- YMCA Leader Certification within 6 months
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

- Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to fitness.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- The YMCA does not provide fitness apparel. Instructors should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the class they are teaching.
