Patient Transport Aide

Overview

Holyoke Medical Center seeks to assist the health care team by providing safe and effective transportation of patients to and from patient care areas within the medical center, under the direction of the supervisor and/or registered nurse. Accountabilities also include assisting with patient-related activities; fostering positive patient relations and good intradepartmental communications.

• Transport patients to and from patient care areas within the medical center under supervision.
• Assist with patient-related activities and maintain positive patient relations; ensure clear intradepartmental communications.
• Participate in codes (CPR) as required.
• Clean stretchers and patient rooms when needed.
• Stock carts in the department.
• Cross-train as a patient observer and maintain a safe environment while attending patients.

• Education:
  
  High School Graduate or equivalent; must be able to read and write English and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Licenses/Registrations: BLS, CPI, Dysrhythmia Monitor Trained (Willing/Able to Learn).
• Experience:
  
  One year experience as an orderly or nursing assistant.
