Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric Adolescent Unit is responsible for delivering compassionate, developmentally appropriate, and evidence-based psychiatric care to adolescent patients in a behavioral health setting. The RN monitors mental health status, administers medications and treatments, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, and ensures a safe therapeutic environment that supports patient stabilization and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, assess, and document patients' mental and physical health status.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and timely.
  • Identify and respond to changes in a patient’s condition, intervening promptly to ensure safety and continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including nursing notes, medication administration, and behavioral observations.
  • Support patients during crises using de-escalation techniques and approved safety interventions.
  • Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and coordination of care.
  • Complete all documentation and paperwork necessary for patient transfers or transitions in care.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience or strong interest in psychiatric or adolescent behavioral health nursing.
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescent patients and their families in emotionally charged situations.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in inpatient psychiatry, adolescent health, or behavioral health nursing.
