Job Summary

The clinical goal of this program is to provide youth under 21 and their parents/caregivers with the intensive short‑term treatment needed to maintain the youth at home safely and to (re) connect them to ongoing outpatient and/or community-based services. The FIT service includes Intensive Family Therapy that may involve working with the entire family (or a subset of the family) to implement focused, structural, strategic, behavioral techniques or evidence‑based interventions to enhance problem‑solving, limit‑setting, risk management/safety planning, communication, and skill‑building to strengthen the family and to advance therapeutic goals to improve ineffective patterns of interaction.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Working under the supervision of a clinician to support the implementation of a treatment plan to assist the youth and the family in achieving the goals of the plan.
  • Teach the youth to understand, direct, interpret, manage, and control feelings and emotional responses to situations and to assist the family to address the youth's emotional and mental health needs.
  • Provide phone contact and consultation as part of the intervention.
  • Review/develop a risk management/safety plan in collaboration with the youth and parent/caregiver.
  • Provide or secure support and crisis/emergency services for the youth/family. This may be done through face‑to‑face contact, phone contact or by text.
  • Inform the Provider Agency of all emergencies or critical incidents.
  • Collaborate with agencies involved to meet the youth and the family’s needs. Contact these key people by telephone frequently and invite them to Care Planning Team meetings.
  • Keep current on all Agency, Government and Funding trainings and health requirements (OSHA, Sexual Harassment, etc).
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in a strength‑based manner per Agency requirements (e.g. court letters, change of placement forms, Referrals, ICP, Progress Notes, evaluation instruments, consent forms, etc.).
  • Complete time sheets, mileage forms, etc. and submit them accurately and in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a human service field (including but not restricted to counseling, family therapy, social work, psychology, etc.) from an accredited college/university.
  • Must have experience in family therapy and working with youth and families.
  • Experience navigating child/family‑serving systems and advocating for family members involved in the behavioral health system.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative, analytical and decisive in problem solving.
  • Demonstrated communications, administrative and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community agencies:
    School Dept., DYS, Juvenile Court, etc.
  • Understanding/willingness to be part of a program that supports youth and families 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.
  • Must have a driver’s license and availability of vehicle to support Program needs.
