Assistant Accountant

Our client, a reputable accountancy practice based in Watford, Hertfordshire, is seeking a Permanent Assistant Accountant to join their friendly team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic, client-focused environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing client bookkeeping, preparing annual financial statements, and creating budgets in Xero to aid clients with forecasting.

You will liaise directly with clients to ensure the accuracy of their financial records and assist with VAT returns, payrolls, and month-end procedures. The role requires a proactive individual capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounts preparation within an accountancy practice

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Experience working with Xero is essential;
Xero certification is desirable

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong client relationships

Must be based within commuting distance to Watford, as it is an office-based role
