Position: 2.2 Pastoral Support Assistant – full time and permanent (27.5 hrs a week, term time only)

Hours & Salary: 27.5 per week, term time only.
Salary: G01 SCP 02 (£24,413-£25,185) pro rata – actual gross £15,207.66.

Role Overview

The Governors at Ysgol Maesglas are looking for a full time and permanent 2.2 Pastoral Support Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive Behaviour Support unit. This is a demanding and challenging environment to work in but the rewards are great, knowing that every day you are making a positive impact on a child who needs something mainstream education cannot offer.

  • Ability to work as part of a close‑knit team but also work on their own initiative
  • Experience of caring for and nurturing pupils with Emotional, Social and Behavioural challenges
  • Can apply de‑escalation techniques effectively
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • Attachment aware and understands the impact of trauma on behaviours
  • Wants to work in a school where every day is a fresh start for the pupils and where the needs of the individual are met to the very best of our ability
  • Committed to continuing relevant training whilst in post
  • Good standard of English and Maths and can deliver learning experiences for pupils that motivate and enthuse disengaged pupils
  • Positive behaviour handling training such as Price, Team Teach or Proactive (Desirable)
