Delyn Gymnastics - Coaching Assistant Apprentice Job Description

Location: Holywell - Flintshire

Contract: Start date - 1st August 2026

Delyn Recreational Gymnastics in Holywell are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice to join their team within their club setting.

Some daytime / evening / weekend hours TBA For example:
Tuesday (5 hrs) 9 am – 2 pm Wednesday (5 hrs) 4 pm – 9 pm Thursday (5 hrs) 9 am – 2 pm Friday (5 hrs) 4 pm – 9 pm

Job Parameters:

• Termly coaching programme writing
• Parent / Member communications
• Support Event Coordination
• Create marketing / website content
• Assist in coaching gymnastics sessions
• Assist in delivery of Inclusive and 1-1 sessions

Person Specification:

• Minimum 5 Cs at GCSE must include English and Maths
• Self-motivated and happy to use your own initiative
• Positive attitude to problem solving
• Interest in playing or coaching sports
• Interest in working with children and vulnerable adults
• Driver
• Has competed in a sport
• Has coached a sport
• Good communication and people skills
• Confidence in speaking with and motivating others
• A proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative
• The ability to stay organised and manage time effectively
• Enthusiasm for learning new skills and improving knowledge
• A positive and encouraging attitude when working with gym members

As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:

• On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within the club setting.
• Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
• Regular assessments and feedback – to track progress and improve skills.
• Additional learning support – particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
