Job Description & How to Apply Below

Fieldfisher TLS is a specialist Alternative Legal Services team supporting Tier‑1 global banks and major financial institutions with trading documentation. We’re a close, experienced team who value clarity, good judgment and genuine collaboration.

We’re looking for a Junior Negotiator with hands‑on experience negotiating financial markets documentation (GMRA/GMSLA/ISDA/CSA). If you enjoy taking ownership of your work, want direct client and counter party exposure, and a supportive team you’ll fit in well here.

What you’ll be doing
  • Negotiate trading documentation - including ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, NDAs and related schedules, taking ownership of your matters with guidance available when you need it.
  • Support BAU negotiation work for Tier‑1 banks and other major financial institutions, progressing a consistent stream of important matters.
  • Explain contractual positions clearly and practically
, helping clients understand trade‑offs and make informed decisions.
  • Manage several negotiations at once
, prioritising effectively and keeping momentum without compromising accuracy or client service.
  • Assess and escalate risk appropriately
, recognising what you can progress yourself and what needs internal discussion or client input.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and counter parties through clear communication, responsiveness and reliability.
  • Maintain high‑quality documentation and records
, helping ensure smooth workflow, client visibility and joined‑up service delivery.
  • Use sound judgment under pressure
, including when timelines shift, information is incomplete or unexpected issues arise.
Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who has developed practical experience negotiating trading documentation and is ready to build on that foundation, deepening their technical skills, commercial awareness, and confidence in working with clients and counter parties. You’ll be joining a high‑performing team that supports your development while expecting you to take ownership and accountability.

  • At least one year of full‑time experience negotiating trading documentation (GMRA/GMSLA/ISDA/CSA) as a core part of your role.
  • Awareness of regulatory frameworks affecting trading documentation.
  • Ability to manage a busy BAU negotiation portfolio with competing priorities calmly and professionally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain issues clearly and practically to clients.

Professionalism and the ability to build trust quickly with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Evidence of good organisation, time‑management and follow‑through in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients in a consulting‑style model.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and a willingness to take ownership and move matters forward.
  • A strong commitment to continued professional development, particularly in technical, analytical and regulatory areas.
Nice to have
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks affecting trading documentation (EMIR, Dodd‑Frank, margin rules, etc).
  • Exposure to investment bank BAU processes, workflows and escalation points.
  • Exposure to other areas such as prime brokerage, securities lending, collateral/margin processes, or similar.
  • Experience supporting front‑office, legal, compliance or credit stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with negotiation playbooks, workflow tools or contract lifecycle management systems.
  • High volume of interesting, real‑world negotiations
  • Trust and responsibility early on - with guidance whenever you need it
  • Supportive, collaborative team that values learning and good judgment
  • Direct client and counter party interaction (no hiding behind layers of management)
  • A mature, steady environment with great people
  • Firm‑funded private healthcare (with family options, counselling and dental)
  • Generous holidays increasing with service and buy options
  • Personalised training and development
  • Wellbeing support and app access
  • A genuinely tight‑knit team

If you want a role where your thinking, attitude and growth truly matter, we’d love to speak with you.
