** POSITION PROFILE
** A pastry chef's job description involves preparing,
** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
*** Creation and preparation:
Bake
* Decoration:
Decorate desserts with frostings, glazes, and toppings to create visually appealing presentations.
* Menu development:
Contribute ideas for new dishes and create custom desserts.
* Inventory and ordering:
Check and order ingredients and supplies for the pastry section.
* Kitchen management:
Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and manage kitchen staff.
* Record-keeping:
Keep accurate records of food costs and inventory.
** REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
*** High school education or equivalent experience. Culinary certificate or degree preferred.
* An associate's degree in pastry arts or a certificate from a culinary institution is highly desired.
* Strong baking techniques and the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
* Creativity in designing unique desserts and new flavor combinations.
* Attention to detail:
Meticulous in measuring ingredients and perfecting presentations.
* Excellent organization and time management skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly and work well with other staff.
* Ability to work well under pressure and accept criticism.
** PHYSICAL DEMANDS
*** Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs.
* Stand continuously for long periods of time.
