Position: Chief Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - UMA

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as the Chief CRNA of all UMA facilities providing clinical leadership and oversight for designated CRNA's. Responsible for recruiting, hiring and staffing of all UMA facilities and ensuring readiness and compliance with all regulatory agencies. Works closely with leadership to ensure all strategic plans for growth and future development of the anesthesia practice. Ensures fiscal responsibility for the anesthesia department with staff and supplies.

Plans and coordinates educational opportunities for the department and staff. Serves as the subject matter expert in all chart adults. Ensures proper staffing and call schedules across UMA facilities throughout the city to include scheduled and emergent cases. Along with the medical director serves as the senior CRNA representative for all surgical services. Maintains an ongoing collaborative working relationship with UT Chief CRNA to ensure adequate UH staffing.

Remains a member of the anesthesia health care team that is responsible for administering anesthesia and monitoring patients during surgeries and other medical procedures. Serves as a subject matter expert in critical care and airway management. Functions in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including ambulatory surgery centers (ASC)

EDUCATION

A Registered Professional Nurse who is prepared for advanced nursing practice by virtue of knowledge and skills obtained through an accredited post basic or advanced educational program of study acceptable to the Board of Nurse Examiners. Graduation from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia with at lease 12-15 years of various experiences in nursing anesthesia. Must be a participating Medicare provider or eligible to obtain a Medicare provider number

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Must be currently licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in Texas and registered by the State to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Must maintain current AHA ACLS or higher in accordance with Medical-Dental staff bylaws. Cerifitcation by a national nursing body is recommended
