Role: Activities Coordinator

Location: Hill House, Combe Raleigh, Honiton, EX14 4UQ

Hours: 37.5hrs

Pay: £12.77 p/h - £12.98 p/h

Rota: Monday to Friday 9-5

The Role
  • Maintain and improve the social and mental health of residents.
  • Provide a varied range of social activities suitable for residents.
  • Get to know residents as individuals, involve them at all stages of activity development, and tailor activities to their current physical and mental needs, including those with dementia.
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with residents using their life stories, experiences, and interests to collate personally meaningful activities that engage each person, maintaining choice to participate or not.
  • Work in partnership with other staff and volunteers, utilising their skills and expertise and motivating and supporting them.
  • Ensure each activity runs smoothly, planning and obtaining needed supplies, and addressing concerns swiftly.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date record of relevant information including resident involvement and past and planned activities.

About you
  • Highly organised, able to work using own initiative.
  • Creative with a fresh approach to planning activities, naturally caring, empathetic, and understanding the needs of older people, including those with dementia.
  • Communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations, patient, able to remain calm and tactful in sensitive situations.
  • Build strong relationships and be a strong and supportive team player.

Eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and an Enhanced DBS check are required. The cost of the DBS check will be met by Abbeyfield.
