Description

We are looking for a Bookkeeper to join a construction and contractor organization in Honolulu, Hawaii on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, managing a steady flow of transactions, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations in a collaborative office setting. The position offers the opportunity to contribute across both payables and receivables while helping keep financial processes organized and timely.

Responsibilities:

- Manage a high daily volume of vendor invoices, ensuring accounts payable entries are recorded accurately and processed on schedule.

- Record customer billing activity for service work and parts sales, keeping accounts receivable information current and complete.

- Accept and post incoming payments made by credit card and check, verifying details and updating financial records promptly.

- Prepare payment reporting and provide support during check processing cycles to help maintain timely disbursements.

- Perform routine bookkeeping tasks and enter transactional data into Sage 50 with a strong focus on accuracy.

- Review financial entries for completeness and resolve discrepancies to support reliable accounting records.

- Assist with maintaining organized documentation for accounting transactions and payment activity.

- Collaborate with a small team to keep daily accounting operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Requirements - At least 3 years of bookkeeping or related accounting support experience.

- Demonstrated background in both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

- Ability to handle high-volume data entry while maintaining strong attention to detail.

- Experience with bookkeeping software;
Sage 50 experience is preferred.

- Familiarity with payment posting, invoice processing, and basic accounting record maintenance.

- Strong organizational skills and clear communication in a team-oriented environment.

- Adaptable approach and willingness to learn new processes as business needs evolve.

- Experience with tools or processes related to bank reconciliations is a plus.
