Immediate vacancy is with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
Salary: $6,090 to $6,704 per month (SR-19, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.
Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
This is the full performance level for building construction inspection work involving a broad range of inspection functions for a variety of construction operations, materials, and methods under varying conditions and requirements.
These positions inspect and measure construction materials used, check methods employed in the construction at hand, inspect the erection of false work and concrete forms used; accept or reject concrete forms, construction equipment and materials based on specifications or modifications approved by a higher level inspector; keep detailed records of work completed and materials used; prepare and submit routine inspection reports as directed;
prepare monthly progress reports concerning the construction project; and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Basic Experience/
Education:
Work experience which involved tasks that demonstrated the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations. - General
Experience:
TWO (2) YEARS of Journey level experience in the building construction trades, which demonstrated knowledge of full range of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities and practices used in such trades, including knowledge of building construction methods and materials and safety requirements and practices, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches. - Specialized
Experience:
ONE (1) YEAR of either:- A. Building construction Inspection work experience.
- B. Supervisory work experience, over a force of skilled trades workers in the building construction industry that involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting the quality of workmanship and materials for adherence to such plans and specifications.
- Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.
- Lift and Carry: Some positions require the ability to lift and/or carry objects of varying weights with or without reasonable accommodation. Substitutions Allowed:
Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply. - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre‑employment fingerprint‑based criminal history record check. To be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found “not guilty by reason of insanity,” of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application.
The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
